The sceptical priest Filippo is sent by the Vatican to investigate a crying statue of the Virgin Mary in a Dutch southern border community. Determined to expose the statue, he stumbles upon the grim village community, which appears deeply traumatized and clings to their miracle. Attracted and unsettled by the mute young woman Térèse, who discovered the tears, he gets entangled in the village’s grief and a series of apparently miraculous events that bring down his certainties about his calling as a priest and as human being.

Jaap van Heusden (1979) writes and directs films that resonate the great themes of our time by telling personal stories that are delivered by exceptional actors. His award-winning features were widely shown at prestigious festivals, like WIN/WIN (Prix Europe Best Screenplay), THE NEW WORLD (Intl. Emmy Award Best Actress), IN BLUE (Dutch Academy Awards Best Director/Best Screenplay/Best Actress, Austin FF Best Narrative Feature). Set in the nineties, Rayco, an 8-year-old boy, and his 14-year-old sister Paula are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Michael Jackson in Tenerife. But their mother becomes pregnant and their life could change before the singer arrives on the island.

Omar Razzak studied Audiovisual Communication and Film Creation and Management in Madrid and after training in Paris and Montreal, he founded Tourmalet Films, together with Manuel Arango. Among his productions, Stockholm by Rodrigo Sorogoyen (Goya Award); the documentaries The inflated jungle by Alejandro Naranjo (FICCI, DokFest, Seminci); Double Me by Felipe Rugeles (FICCI – Cartagena Film Festival 2018, Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival 2018) and the minority coproduction La Última Primavera / Last Days of Spring by Isabel Lamberti (IJswater Films, Cannes-ACID, San Sebastian-New Directors Award). As a writer and director, he has released the documentaries Paradiso (Transylvania, Brooklyn or SEMINCI) and La tempestad calmada (ICA-London, Dok.fest München, DocumentaMadrid).
